When you miss a BamaCarry meeting in your area you are missing several things.
1. Great Fellowship with like minded individuals
2. A chance to ask questions about Alabama gun laws. We find that most Alabamians have thought something true only to attend a meeting and find out they have believed wrong all their lives.
3. Many meetings have training classes ranging from basic firearm safety to in-depth training such as situational awareness and other classes geared toward carrying a firearm in todays world.
4. Special speakers and guest ranging from local to state politicians, law enforcement and other speakers of interest.
5. Classes on how to get involved with your representatives and techniques to winning their confidence.
When you become a vested member you are becoming a part of the “only” no compromise gun rights group in Alabama. Membership is only $20.00 yearly. Of course you do not need to be a member to participate. All BamaCarry meetings are open to the general public and we encourage you to attend one. We believe you will be impressed with the excitement and zeal of other patriots and gun owners.

Recently BamaCarry member Amy Parrish was invited to hold a ladies handgun safety and personal awareness class for her fellow co workers. Amy reports that there were 15 ladies present and most had little to no real experience firing a weapon.
By the time the class was finished these ladies were familiar with revolvers and semi-automatic handguns.
It was a time of learning, training and great fellowship. Amy said it was a real honor to be able to share with these wonderful ladies the fun of the “shooting sports” and to see their confidence level rise. She says “people helping people” is what it is all about. She also said it is always a great feeling to see women who have never held or fired a weapon leave with a sense of pride and confidence as they get over their fear of guns.
Thanks to Amy’s husband Josh for being on hand to help keep things safe and to assist.
Amy says she starts her classes with a little speech about BamaCarry Inc. and why she and her husband are members. I’m thinking BamaCarry will see some new memberships soon.
Our hats off to Amy and Josh for their dedication to BamaCarry and to promoting firearm safety wherever and whenever they can.

Both the House and the Senate have approved two hotly debated measures to expand gun rights by letting licensed Texans openly carry holstered handguns statewide and bring concealed handguns on any college campus.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!!!
On Thursday, April 16, 2015, the Alabama Supreme Court granted BamaCarry’s request to appear before that court as an amicus curiae in the case of Tulley v. City of Jacksonville. BamaCarry has been granted permission to file an amicus brief addressing the issue of whether the Alabama Constitution prohibits a city (Jacksonville) from enacting an ordinance that limits the rights of the citizens of Alabama from lawful use, possession, and carry of a firearm. BamaCarry is being represented before the Alabama Supreme Court by Birmingham attorney Michael P. Hanle.
BamaCarry is an incorporated organization under Alabama law and operates as a non-profit. BamaCarry promotes and defends an individual’s right to keep and bear arms, as guaranteed by the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Alabama. BamaCarry seeks to achieve these goals through the use of educational opportunities, and grassroots organizing to ensure responsible ownership and carry of firearms in Alabama as permitted under the Constitution of Alabama.

Oregon Teachers to Conceal Carry
A long standing gun ban in Oregon’s St. Helen school district has been reversed. Previously, school staff members were forbidden to carry firearms on campus, even though it was legal for the parents to carry. So, after a review, board members voted in favor of lifting the ban. The ban acts in contrast to other school districts across the country, which ban guns on campus, for everyone, especially teachers. In New York, the SAFE Act makes it a felony for anyone to possess a firearm on campus, including teachers. The final vote by the board members was 4-1. It will affect 7 schools in total: two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and three alternative schools.
The decision, which took place last Tuesday, makes perfect sense to the St. Helen community. “I’ve had more parents email me saying that they approve of our decision than not,” said St. Helens’ School Board chairman Marshall Porter. “The current law in Oregon allows for anybody to concealed carry on school grounds,” he said. “To exclude our staff seems like they’re being punished. They should have a right to protect themselves if they so choose.”
While many schools do allow teachers to carry firearms (like this Oregon school district), some school districts have proposed providing firearms and training for the staff. However, very few teachers and staff are actually interested in participating. In northern Idaho last week, a proposal to arm teachers was dropped by the school, because 14% of the staff and 8% of the teachers were actually interested in being armed and trained. Embarrassingly small, but true. This summer, a school in Arkansas also tried to take measures to arm and train teachers in case of school shooting. The teachers trained all volunteered. However, even after completing said training, the school decided not to arm the teachers, because of public pressure.
So, while many districts do allow school staff to carry, very few actually encourage carrying or train them in case of a shooting. For now, it appears that giving teachers permission to carry is more productive than providing them with a firearm and training. Still, at least they aren’t gun free zones anymore.
